Neither did I mean to write this nor did I mean to write this as a screen play. I was participating with a friend of mine in a Yahoo! chatroom that she frequented; she thought I would bring a fresh perspective into something a bit unusual.
What I did, however, was bring the ire of the room upon my shoulders and hers. It was not a pretty situation and the community showed its true colors. My friend was quite hurt by the display and lost some of her innocence during this evolution. One could argue that trying to maintain one’s innocence on the internet is like trying to justify liberalism with logic, but then the one would have forgotten what innocence was like.
I have since lost track of that friend; she decided after such a scathing in the online world that she’d spend more time in the offline world. I think it was the right decision and I wish her well.
